Im slightly worried I won’t be employable again as I refuse to be exploited.
Common Interview questions such as:
“How would you work harder if we were short-staffed?”
I wouldn’t. I’d work exactly the same as if we had a full team. It’s not my fault or responsibility that there aren’t enough workers for the job…
“If we called you on your day off as we needed an extra pair of hands to come to work immediately, would this be a problem for you?”
Most of the time, yes. I usually have things planned for my day off. You can still call and ask, just don’t be surprised if the answer more often than not is a firm no.
“There’s a project due Monday morning. Towards the end of Friday work day it becomes clear you won’t finish it before the end of your shift. Do you stay later to finish the project?”
Depends if I’m still being paid for staying later and what’s the overtime bonus? Maybe sometimes I’d stay, but I’d probably just go home because I’m not a machine and actually have a life and plans outside of work. What’s your overtime procedure?
I’ve worked for some shit companies and jobs. Morning cleaner, McDonald’s, anything restaurant based, pot wash. I’m currently at University studying music and aim to make a small living gigging or something. I value my freedom and time over chasing a penny but I’m worried my enlightenment in recent years will make me un-hireable.
