I work in a retirement home, doing work for the residents. My coworkers are mostly college age women, and a few who are still in high school.
My boss is notorious for playing favorites. She told us all individually not to speak about our salaries.
She has been severely under paying one of the managers who happens to be a black woman. I told this manager how much more I made than her, so she could advocate for herself. She took it to the boss and demanded a raise.
Apparently this is grounds to terminate me. I don't care honestly, but we're having a meeting with HR tomorrow about it. I've already printed out my statement and a copy of the text where it says discussing salary is a protected right but tbh I could always get another job.
