I worked fire alarm install for about 7 months and I was tasked with doing some out of town work with 2 other people. Me and my co worker get into our room at a quality inn and right before we get tucked in he got bit. We got a change of rooms and settled down for the night but that was the last straw for me at the job site. I told my supervisor I’d be leaving today and hopefully working a different job somewhere else. He talked with his higher ups and I got told these are the options I have
-continue to work the week in the hotel that’s given
-continue to work the job site at a different hotel I’d pay for out of pocket
-drive a total 6hrs per day unpaid and work between 7-5 for the rest of the week
-pack up, come home and sign termination papers.
I already had plans to leave the company just not this soon. I took the last option and made a lot of calls. Organized a stay on my rent with the folks I’m staying with. And updated my family on the situation.
Now I gotta quarantine everything I brought with me until I can sort out how to clean/dispose of it all.
This all happened in South Carolina for those that are curious.
