I’m going back to school to get my masters in a complete different field than my current job (40 hrs, salary). I can do my job easily in 20 hours per week and so I want to propose working PT there while I go to school…but how??

For more details, I work in an industry I’ve never been interested or passionate about. It’s informative, but boring. (It’s finance). My current job pays really well despite it being boring, and I plan to start a graduate program next year. The first year of the program I could easily work PT at my current job but after that I’ll have to quit bc the program requires actual intern hours and field work (it’s for therapy). Looking for advice on how to have this convo with my employer. They seem to really like me, and I’ve been there almost two years. I want to show them I can work PT instead of my agreed upon 40 hours, and not only that, I need to convince them to be supportive of my complete change in career while I still work there.
