I was always early to work, sometimes before the boss came in. I always waited exactly at closing time to pack up which took like 5 minutes. I never said no to “Can you work on X?” I rarely used my limited sick days. I was always terrified of getting fired. Always. I needed to be the perfect worker.
I don't care anymore. I am not happy erasing my personality and denying my interests to be a good little cog. Of course, some privileged people can't understand this but I don't have a back up plan, I get fired i may end up in the streets. But i just can't be a robot anymore because its driving towards a dark path of no return.
Just another American worker.
