Working at party city. It’s decent. A bunch of high schoolers rolling their eyes with a frown on their face and bossing me around when the other day I managed the Halloween section fine ALL ALONE with 100 customers going in and out, making a mess, and I did that with a good mood and a smile on my face.
I had just gotten off at 10:30 the night before and my next shift started 7:AM on Halloween eve (yesterday), I didn’t get any sleep so I just didn’t show.
The next Halloween person who came in after me was at 8am and coincidentally was one of the ones who have nothing but a frown on her face the entire shift and only got the job from a highschool work program.
Yeah I didn’t show. Two of the managers working that morning were two that I respected and couldn’t bare to tell them I’m not showing up so I blocked the store number. I unblocked it that afternoon.
Got a call today from another manager I respect, today, 5 minutes after my shift started and I didn’t answer. I don’t want to listen to the entire voicemail either, she was just wondering where I was. Take a hint?
The hiring bar must have been really low considering they hired a 4 ft midget who needs me to reach the top shelves for him. They hired a dude who literally does not speak more than a few words to customers or employees. And a guy who smells like a literal bathroom, not gross but like bathroom cleaning supplies.
I was helping a customer the other day with another associate who isn’t temporary. The customer came back to me to let me know that I was very thoughtful and amazing and that the other associate sounded like a ROBOT
I was probably getting let go today anyways had I worked two extra long, annoying shifts when I could be at home with my family passing at Halloween candy and watching Halloween movies.
I don’t really feel guilty, I don’t owe them anything just how they don’t owe me a non temporary job. My mom is super mad at me though! I had to remove my emergency contact from the ADP work party city hub because if they called my mom she’d just roast me!!
If they call again I may just answer and say I’m sorry but I’m not coming in. The sad part is I’m actually such a nice person and a good worker that this is the last thing they would expect from me.
