I’m quitting Walmart in 3 weeks!

The time is finally coming where I get to leave this awful work environment. I’ve made a post before about my awful boss, and I’m super excited to be leaving this place. I’ve worked for Walmart in Ontario for almost 10 months now. Got a new manager (new boss) when I was at my three month mark, and so I was looked over when it came to promotions in my department because they were too busy restructuring management roles. The new manager ended up promoting someone of the same skin colour and country of origin, who had worked 7 months later than myself (the lady promoted was only with the department for 2 months at that point), and was late to work every day, and didn’t care about her job. She didn’t know how to do anything either, and acted like a princess all the time… According to my friend,…

She didn’t know how to do anything either, and acted like a princess all the time… According to my friend, who is one of the department managers (who now works for a different department because she hates my boss), behind the scenes my boss always says racist things, and is racially motivated when it comes to deciding who does what, and who gets treated which way.

I’ve been getting tons of surveys fulfilled, orders completed in an efficient manner, customers love me (I hear it all the time), and all my manager has done is say “good job” over text in our group chat. Even the store leader knows I do amazing work, they heard it from my old boss, but now they say my new boss talks behind my back and judges me because I’m “too good”. If my old manager still worked at the store, he would’ve promoted me long ago. It’s a shame he moved on to a different store that was struggling and in need of support.

Walmart claims that they do not discriminate, and that they are an equal opportunity employer. Numerous times this has not been the case, and is actually the opposite of the truth. Do not work for Walmart, and try to shop elsewhere if possible. Walmart is an awful company that truly overworks their staff, expects too much from them, and gives them no recognition for the hard work that they do. Managers need to be trained more on gender/race equality.

With current expenses in today’s economy, I only pocket $300 every two weeks ($150 a week) with my job… this is not enough to support me.

TLDR: I do not support larger corporations such as Walmart or Amazon. They are killing businesses, and they are really poorly managed. $15/hr does not cut it for the amount of work/effort I put into everything I do.
