I’m sitting in my car after driving home from my job, and I’m honestly so shocked and disheartened.
I was heading off-ramp to my job, and watched a woman hit extremely hard on the sidewalk after scooting directly into the sidewalk bump. I immediately stopped, watched for cars, and called 911 once I reached her. She was prone, unresponsive for a while whilst we waited, and slurring words when she did say something. People only stopped and got out once someone else (I) did.
I was late twenty minutes and they argued with me why. Told me it wasn’t my responsibility and someone else would’ve helped. I should’ve called and let them know. I literally ran from my car without thinking because I was terrified for her, and used her phone to call an ambulance. I cried in front of the security guard helping me back to my car. Cried to my mom.
I know I’m naive about human nature, but i can’t even imagine thinking that was the first thing they thought of. No “is she okay” or “are you alright”, nothing. I was shaking trying to get ready for work. Just… you’re late.
I’m putting in my notice tomorrow. I’m home now trying to feel better. Thanks for listening.
