It didn't always used to be this way. This was actually a great job. Its a cushy state job at a university, great benefits, great pay, easy work, we would be chilling half the time. But since the pandemic and a certain company that pays significantly more came to town people have quit. We are down probably 50% of our normal staff and instead of an easy relaxing job where I worry about my small portion of the work I'm doing the work of 3 people. We are unionized so I'm pretty protected against being yelled at for not getting shit done, I can work at a snails pace and not have everthing done by the time I leave and have no reprocussions. But I'm somewhat of a completionist. I like having things done the way they are supposed to, but since all this bullshit started my attitude towards that has changed.
Tonight, when they need someone at a different building if they can they will take someone of that classification and send them over there, but if there aren't enough people here already then they shouldnt take anyone. Well then did that tonight, when our job basically requires a minimum of 3 people for good completion, we are now at 2 and I'll be doing the work of 4 people. I'm tempted to just walk out the door tonight. I'll come back tomorrow but I want to save myself this headache and get paid to sit at home.
This is my last semester here hopefully. I'll be self employed and won't need to suck the dick of a corporation who can't even give us a $1 raise, but will pay $11 million for a new building and $50k a week for picnic ware.
