I've been working here for about 5 months (California, USA).
There's a big scandal at the company I work for. The Executive Director was calling a bunch of shots without the board's approval, including my salary, PTO, other perks, etc. Well, the ED quit last week and we learned this week that this person made a bunch of empty promises to employees, partners, volunteers, etc.
The new ED is cleaning up the mess and they explained to me and my coworkers that the board never approved the former ED'S calls and they can't honor his promises, even if they're in writing as he never had the authority to do so.
The new ED let us know that they will decide soon if they're going to terminate the team or not, but if we decide to stay, then our roles and expectations would have to be redefined … especially because most of the documents signed by the former ED aren't legal since authority was never given to him, or so they claim. So, the new ED assured us they'd write us an awesome letter of recommendation should we quit, and understands if we go that route.
Oh, and when we asked who allowed the former ED to handle business without oversight, we were told that the board was fooled and are victims as well.
I'm freaking out, but I'm not quitting. Any suggestions?
