I'm working for a US company remotely while living in another country. I started a month ago, and the contract clearly stated that I'm allowed 19 days holiday for my county of residence but I'll work on US holidays too for the 20days leave I acquired after my probation (3months).
So last week in my county, we had two days public non working holiday for Easter (Thursday and Friday). I get an email from my US boss on Friday asking me to do some work. I politely told him I'll do it on Monday since I'm currently on holiday and thought he knew since it was announced by HR.
He got mad that I'm not supposed to go on holiday until I request a leave of absence. I showed him an announcement the HR posted a few days ago about the public holiday and how you can get double pay if you showed up (no where did it say it was mandatory to work on holidays, and its not like I had anything on my plate on those two days that'll make me take the double pay). He said well everyone else in my country showed up for work and that they all had same contract. He also went further to say that he's worried about my attention to details (the audacity). That when HR announced the public holiday and put in double pay, I'm supposed to know that its mandatory to show up for work except I asked for leave .
He then messaged HR and told them to not pay me for those two days. Now its Monday and I'm back to work. I can sense tension between us. I sent a report Monday morning and he immediately spot one aspect of the table calculation that was wrong. Out of 6 reports I prepared in one day he spotted that one part and asked me to train my other colleague how to do it.
Mind you, these reports were handed over to me by someone who left the company last week. And this is the second time I'm doing it on my own.
I've called a meeting with him tomorrow as am already fed up with the way he's treating me.
