Impossible sales goals are a feature, not a bug

I once worked at a recruiting company, we'll call them Bobby One-Third. Here's how they treated their recruiters: The pay structure was highly skewed towards commission from meeting certain goals (as many sales positions are). If they didn't meet those goals one month, the deficit would roll over to the next month and the next month, etc, and they wouldn't get commission until they met the goals for all months. Then I realized that this is a feature, not a bug. Bobby One-Third wants a revolving door of young workers that they can exploit. They promise excellent pay “as long as you meet sales goals!”…but makes those goals impossible. It's a cruel bait and switch and I'm disgusted that I worked for/with that company at all.
