In my country, medical expenses are discounted from annual tax payments.

Hi, so, i am from Venezuela, and started to work at a mixed state-private owned company since November last year. I was given a Tax disclosure by the company, where tells my salary from the last 2 months of the year. I needed to declare it to the tax collecting institution (Seniat), but, some workers came to the company place and started to take it from the workers, so good luck for me. This was the first time ever that i paid any income taxes, so i had to be told how to do it and how it works, and its way easier. First, Venezuela is often referred by the ultrarich as a “Tax hell” and yes, the rich are taxed, but, my income tax is only 34%, and its calculated by my salary, and not by EVERYTHING i get paid, and that's good because i have another legally not…

First, Venezuela is often referred by the ultrarich as a “Tax hell” and yes, the rich are taxed, but, my income tax is only 34%, and its calculated by my salary, and not by EVERYTHING i get paid, and that's good because i have another legally not taxed incomes.

Second, i can pay my taxes in quotas, i think that should be normal in other places, but i had literally not idea that was an option here.

Third, if i have ANY medical expenses, as long as i have the receipts of my medical bills in hand, i those will be discounted from my taxes, and if those are too high, i might not pay any taxes at all. That includes medical bills from private clinics.

Of course there are other type of taxes, like housing, car, imports, sales, etc, but my mom pays the housing taxes (Her house, i live with her) and have no car, or other taxed stuffs for now, so, im good.

Also, in my country electricity is almost free, water is almost free, internet is almost free, etc. And if you have earnings in foreign currency, is not taxed (although legislators are working on it).

I know this might sound normal or even dumb to people from another countries, but i was really convinced that my country is a tax hell, might be for the ultra rich, but for me seems good and reasonable.

Im 23yo, and ive done a lot of things, but this makes me feel like an “adult” lol.
