Hi guys and girls. So a year ago I stopped working as a teacher, and now am working for a not for profit as an independent contractor. At the time of applying for the job this wasn't explained, nor was it explained in the 6 interviews for the job. Either way I wanted to have a change of scene, so accepted the role. Now I have always been an employee and thought that being a contractor could be good, be my own boss, work flexibly.
However, I was wrong. My boss wants to have me be an employee with none of the benefits of being a contractor. For example having to have approved leave from him, yet having to do my own taxes and invoices. Him setting where when and how much I will work. Hmm this makes no sense to me. So, I am getting married later this year, and my wife and I want to go on a honeymoon. The fucking hoops I had to jump through to get it approved were ridiculous, but I booked flights and informed them of the dates. Now my boss keeps “forgetting” that I am going to be away in December and keeps bringing up things I will need to do. I remind him I won't be here, and he makes me feel like shit for deciding to have a honeymoon. Don't know what the point of this post is but I am beyond annoyed with this guy trying to have his cake and eat it too.
