Recently I had an interview that I thought went very well. It was scheduled for 30 mins but went on for 50 minutes instead. Interviewer asked about my career goal and went on to say things like she will help me to achieve the goals together. Towards the end she mentioned that she will connect with her boss to see his availability for next round of interview. This was a role that’s advertised to me by a recruiting agency and tbh they didn’t do a good job of presenting the accurate information of what the responsibilities are and also a bunch of misinformation. For example, the role was advertised hybrid with only 1-2 day in office while in reality the hiring manager told me they want someone fully onsite 5 days a week.
But I enjoyed the conversation with the interviewer a lot so I decided to keep on open mind and asked recruiter to get some clarification before moving on to next round. Today I heard back and apparently they are going a different direction and felt I don’t have the “ experience” they need lol….. I think this is a blessing in disguise because clearly the role is a lot different than what’s advertised but can’t help to feel they wasted my time… And also I wonder if the recruiting agency had said something they shouldn’t when asked for clarification and it turned them off. The interviewer is a very upfront and straight forward lady and I felt if the interview didn’t go well she wouldn’t extend for extra 20 mins and mention I will go to the next round…
Anyways, I am taking this as a learning experience and trying to figure out if there’s something I can improve on my end.
