Chatting with my dad about my interview I let him know I had grabbed some new dress clothes for the interview and he asked if I had a tie.

I told him that I can’t wear ties because all my dress shirts don’t fit right around my neck, so I have to leave the top button undone.

His perspective was that if their HR department wants me to wear a tie I could potentially not get hired for it
