I was told today that I was through to the second interview today. The recruiter told me the good news and said he had asked for a description of the interviewers for the next interview for me.
He said he was told by the HR Director, “Kevin is really charismatic, great to talk to, great individual…” all positive, and then, “Seth is different…I think he's on the spectrum to be honest. People find it hard to maintain eyecontact with him”.
The recruiter then said, “I'm not sure if that's because he's crossed eyed maybe?” With a laugh.
I was in silent shock…that the HR director would be talking about an employee like that..and with strangers. It is also really ablist.
It grossed me out and instantly put me off the company. Some people have told me I should still go for the role as every company has people like that and the role is good and pays double my current wage. I however feel like if I know what they are like already it's different.
Ive been told that I'm the front runner for the role, part of me want to do the interview, get offered the role and then decline as a little dose of petty revenge.
Any advice on what to do?
TL;DR was told that hr director described my next interviewer as probably on the spectrum and weird. I'm top of the list for the role, I'm tempted to follow through on the interview and then decline, using the opportunity to call them out.
