Interviewing for a significant pay raise but feeling anxiety over how screwed I’ll leave my current coworkers.

I’ve been at my job for over 10 years. My pay was decent enough at the time, but my raises barely kept up with inflation and now they’ve been less than keeping up for the last few years. I started looking around and am seeing not only that other hospitals are starting people with my experience at a significant increase from my current job, but I’m also seeing that my job has the worst “help wanted” advert among all the hospitals I have looked at….no wonder nobody is applying to out hospital, the benefits and salary aren’t even mentioned, compared to other ads that clearly state the pay and how desperate they are. It makes me feel like my hospital is just pretending to try and hire people while they let us run at full productivity on a skeleton crew. After my working interview I will be speaking to management…

After my working interview I will be speaking to management about either a significant pay raise or how they’re going to fill my role in two weeks time when they’re already leaving my without help often as it is. The people I work with are great but I feel like I can’t be the last one to leave a sinking ship and that passing on an opportunity would be foolish.

Hopefully I can update you all with either the news that I’m offered a great raise at my current job or I have been offered a great position at another place!
