Hey all. I’ve been a follower of this thread for a while and I know it’s mainly about horrible companies/corporations/bosses/work conditions (all I have experienced in my career) but I’d love to share a special moment I had today at work:
My supervisor took my department & I (8 people) out to a sushi lunch today as an end of the year celebration. In addition, the company gave us a $35 in our paychecks and a $15 Amazon gift card. Having worked for various types of people over the past 20 years, I have never received a holiday bonus, a lunch, a gift. I’ve been jealous in the past when I’ve seen higher-ups be rewarded but us regular workers received nothing. On my ride home, I reflected on this and I am thankful. Maybe all the horrific companies and bosses I’ve endured have led me to this experience.
For context: I am a social worker at an understaffed county jail in the US.
