Is it ethical to manipulate a shitty colleague?

Having issues with a contractor who is effectively a colleague for the duration of a project. I have to audit them to ensure their team work safely and they are retaliating to me finding issues with their work. After speaking with managers it appears this is being viewed as a clash of personalities rather than anything untoward. I am hoping to manipulate said colleague in to harassing me so that I can report this and get them removed. Seems reasonable, right?
