For the most part, I love the company I work at. We have great benefits, and they seem to actually care about the employees. We get nice incentives, and they aren’t trying to force everyone to go back into the office instead of working from home.
Here is the anti work part. I work in the customer service department with only one other person. With the holidays coming up, HR let everyone know that we will have a week off for Christmas/New Year, from Dec 23rd to Jan 2nd. And by “we”, that means everyone except customer service and our warehouse. We get paid holidays here, so everyone will be paid for the week off. However, I still have to work as normal, answer calls and emails, send orders, what I usually do. There are a couple days that I will have off which are Dec 23rd and 26th. But why does everyone else get more than a week completely off, and paid for it?
By the way, this is my 2nd year with the company and I already went through this once. My coworker and I had to work at the end of last December while everyone else was off. And the worst part is some of the calls we get are for other departments but guess what, they’re off for a week. I don’t remember exactly, but I think we weren’t supposed to tell them that the person/department they are looking for is off, just that they would get a call back soon. But then the same people would call again a day or so later, and I wouldn’t know what to say. It was just overall a bad time for me, I’m not looking forward to go through it again. Like I said, for the most part I love the company I work at. But this seems so unfair. I’d like to hear thoughts on this situation.
