I just started a new job today and I’m not sure I want to continue bc of the culture that I witnessed there in 1 day. There is no actual HR department since they are a small company (less than 25 employees) and I saw that they have 2 huge charts in the lobby for all to see: 1. The first ones says how many days each employee has been late (it goes on a sliding scale between 10-30min – it lists which time block they fall under) and how many sick days or PTO days they have taken that quarter. 2. The second one says how many hours on average a week they work per quarter. If you’re working 40, you’re at the bottom of the list, so you should really be putting in 45+ (this is for salary people as well). Apparently this kind of shows your who’s more eligible for raises or profit sharing.
I also didn’t like that they tell you what time you’re allowed to take a 15 min break, and when you have to take lunch.
I hate feeling like a quitter after 1 day, but I this just doesn’t sit right with me. Is sharing this information for all to see even legal?
