So I've had this job interview for an senior accounting position, and this chinese “boss” whom I didn't expect to be interviewed by as my contact was an Italian woman named Francesca not some chinese dude acting all friendly, like cops who conduct an interrogation seeming all friendly to build their case on you, this fellow was all that and had the audacity to ask how much I pay in rent? which nobody ever asked me before during all my job interviews, only to then mock it when I said 500euros, he said is it a big house? I said, no it's only one bedroom shared flat, he then said “you should move, that's a lot.”
To me that was a huge redflag, as this question really doesn't relate in any way to the job position I'm applying for, he came across as trying to figure out my expenses to decide on how many pennies he wants to pay me enough to match my basic needs this way I'd have no opportunity of growth and be enslaved to him forever,
thoughs? I'd like to know if someone here did an interview and had the same question asked to them?
Thinking about it now, as it caught me off guard, I wish I had said, I would prefer not to disclose that information but I live in the city center, so go figure aka none of your business in business jargon,
It will probably be read as uncooperative on his end but fuck it, how would guys deal with this?
