Is it worth arguing with your current boss if you are leaving to a new team/new boss in the same company?

So as the title suggests, is it worth it? I applied for this new position in a new team in the same company as I wasn’t liking working for my current boss and the new opportunity had a better growth trajectory. Obviously I did not tell my current boss about it till I got the role. Problem is my new team and current team share the same Director and I am technically just moving laterally under the big boss. So my current boss says he needs me and requested the director to keep me working in the same team for couple more months and the director agreed to it since the new team doesn’t have a lot going on right now. This is already feeling like shit and now he jokes about keeping me longer. Last time he joked about it, I almost lost it and wanted to tell how…
