Is it worth it to try and ask for accommodation/change in work duties

Let me know if this is the wrong sub to post in, I just figured you guys might have some advice. I work retail and currently I’m not in a position to switch jobs. But anyway over the last few months what has been a manageable pain that could be occasionally debilitating has become a frequently debilitating pain but I have been unable to get a diagnosis due to multiple reasons. My friends and loved ones have been telling me that I need to inform my employer because they keep scheduling me for more hours than I request and they need to know that I struggle to make it through these longer shifts. I’m normally pretty good about scheduling my day to accommodate enough energy for work as well as things like school, errands, and working out (to hopefully get myself healthier) but I’ve been regularly forced to stay late…

I’m normally pretty good about scheduling my day to accommodate enough energy for work as well as things like school, errands, and working out (to hopefully get myself healthier) but I’ve been regularly forced to stay late because things are so disorganized that nothing ever gets done on time plus our boss likes to come in last minute and give us extra tasks that cut into the every day tasks. This naturally leads to me not having allotted enough “on my feet” time to where I’m in excruciating pain by the time I leave. For context these shifts involve tons of heavy lifting and I’m quite literally always on my feet.

I’ve been in talks with the online department for a while about switching about half the time to online and back-end work since they use a system I’m very familiar with and it would take not even half a work day to train me. My employer has also talked about me switching to more back-end work since I started but nothing has come from this. It was actually one of the main things I highlighted in my resume, since that ended up becoming my main job at my old place of work. I’m hoping that I can make the switch so I’m not on my feet all the time but it’s unclear if I’ll even get a raise even though I’ll be one of the few people that can work back end tech and the floor.

Long story short I’m frequently having to work overtime which is exacerbating a suspected medical condition but since I currently don’t have a proper diagnosis I’m not sure it’s worth mentioning. I’ve been in talks to switch to back-end online work which would hopefully help the health issues but there’s no guarantee that’ll happen or if I’ll get a raise
