My boss basically had a go at me for not dressing smart in a meeting and he has harped on at me about it for some time now.
The company dress code is “smart casual”.
I was wearing a white collared shirt, a black jumper and black trousers. I always dress smart for meetings, in the exact same attire that I just described.
My colleague IN THE SAME MEETING was wearing a metal band t-shirt, jeans and a chain.
Even If I don't have a meeting I'm still relatively smart. I wear a plain polo shirt and plain black jeans (which is EXACTLY what my boss wears IN HIS MEETINGS, funnily enough).
In fact here is a list of my colleagues and what they wear IN MEETINGS:
Sales guy – polo shirt & jeans
Sales manager – shirt & jeans
My manager – polo shirt & jeans
The PPC guy – metal band t-shirt and jeans
The girls – Whatever they please
Me – Shirt, Jumper & Trousers
I just don't understand…
Is it my ADHD and me not understanding something here? Or am I being unfairly treated?
I'm a really passive and avoidant person and I genuinely hate confrontation, so how do I deal with this?
