I have a WFH job that I freaking love. The pay is good, I only talk to my immediate supervisor about once a week. My performance and attendance are both excellent.
The company is very, very well capitalized (hundreds of millions). The organization is global (I frequently receive foreign language email), but most of my department is located in the US.
Recently, the company announced they are outsourcing some of my department’s work to another [cheaper] country. This might be because they are having issues finding qualified workers but production is not suffering, yet.
It’s not going well with foreign workers as the quality has suffered and there is now a sizable backlog that US workers could resolve in a few days. However, there seems to be no movement in that direction and this causes me concern as if they are now willing to sacrifice quality for reducing labor costs. I have got a bad feeling.
My immediate supervisor is very pissed about this and has instructed a few of us to make sure we don’t help.
I have already updated my resume and started looking for a new job. I am wondering how much time I might have or if I should jump ship now to any other job before a bunch of us get laid off?
I am open to all ideas and suggestions.
