About five months ago, I started a job at well-known tool store, working as a warehouse associate. The pay is decent, and my coworkers seem all right. Three months into the job, a position above mine was opened, and management said I would be the perfect role for it. They even explained that they would rather promote someone who's been with the company rather than getting a new hire from an outside source. However, they lied.
When I asked my managers why I wasn't given a promotion, they claimed that I needed to “work on my management skills.” Despite that explanation, they had me teaching the new supervisor as if I were one myself.
I don't know if I'm taking this too personally, but I feel extremely cheated.
Should I start looking for other places?
