This happened some 20+ years ago at the local Shoney's restaurant. My sister had recently started working there as a server and before shift one day her supervisor had the wait staff line up for an inspection. Apparently someone had been seen wearing white socks instead of black the day prior so he wanted to drive the point home about the uniform and make sure everyone was wearing the right socks.
He started at one end and began lifting a pant leg of each server to check, but when he got to my sister she loudly told him, “Unless you've got a ring in your pocket you'd better keep your hands to yourself!” His face turned every shade of red and he quietly asked her and everyone else to show him their socks.
