Hi everyone! Posting on an alt for obvious reasons.
Here is the issue I’m having at my current place of employment. I am in banking and I have been for the past three years. I have been employed with my current job for just over a year now. I live away from home as I am attending school where I live.
When I started in November of 2021 of last year, they requested that I mark the week of my vacation and all other vacation days that I will be taking for 2022. I earn 56 hours of vacation time yearly and it has to all be used as it does not transition over to the next year. I was told I could not take my vacation during the week of Christmas and Thanksgiving due to it being busy. I understood that because it is typically true. Fast forward to today, I’ve learned that there are multiple people at the same position as myself who are off the week of Thanksgiving and Christmas. (This is paid time) One person I know of has been here for nearly 10 years while another has only been here for maybe 2-3 months longer than myself. (This is the person who works at my location so we have the same manager)
On top of this, I am schedule to work this Saturday AND Christmas eve which is also a Saturday. *** (Both without overtime pay, because they refuse to pay overtime)*** I typically do not mind this but I will not have any time with my family this year because I have to work the weekend of both holidays.
