Is this normal? What’s the deal with hiring managers refusing to send over the actual job description?

Twice now I've had two separate companies reach out to me for an interview after seeing my profile on Indeed or LinkedIn. Both times I've asked for a job description, as I am not comfortable interviewing for a role without knowing the basic responsibilities and requirements. One of the companies sent me some very basic information, surprisingly including the salary range, but neither would give me a summary of the actual job. That's great if they want to pay me X dollars an hour, but to do WHAT? Is this normal?? Am I just expected to carve time out of my schedule to speak to these people to find out what they're offering? I feel like that's a bit ridiculous. I thought most companies would have a typed out description of the role they're trying to fill to send to potential candidates, but either these people don't have one or…
