I just interviewed at a position, said my asking price from the beginning (25/hr), and was given a tour after the fact. Just for the guy interviewing me to offer me $19/hr, which he could possibly bump to $20/hr.
You know what the job included? Speaking Spanish, shipping and inventory, strict deadlines, fast paced deadlines (10 mins and less), customer service, fast paced environment overall (so modern day slavery lol) ALL FOR $19/hr??????
I feel so defeated because these are the only jobs I seem to keep bumping into. Overworked, underpaid, easy to burn out in, can’t live off of. Is this really it? Is this really what’s out there for us?
I have a college degree, I’m bilingual, I’m earning certifications. I’m just so fucking frustrated I started crying on my drive home. And on top of that the guy interviewing me after I say $19 is too low goes, “is any other company even looking for you?” Man I wanted to punch him in his face but instead I had to smile and just give a polite answer.
I’m literally crying as I type this. What the fuck are we supposed to do?
