I advised my boss I was leaving to travel for 3 months and he adamantly said he won't let me go and we can hire a temp for 3 months until I come back. I asked him if he was sure and he insisted he doesn't want to let me go and we can offer someone a temp position. I was in charge of the hiring process and we hired someone else. Fast forward 3 months, i message him to ask when I can start back up again and he calls telling me due to lack of profit for the year its not worth having me back at work and he has been doing fine alone. How can he blindside me into thinking I'm coming back to my job and then change his mind? I was nothing but a number. Zero loyalty. Is this unfair dismissal?
