Is Upward Mobility even a thing anymore? Has it ever been a thing? I could have swore there used to be tons of stories of former homeless and broke people eventually owning a home and getting married, and settled with kids. I am guessing that is just not possible anymore?

If upward mobility no longer even exists, what is the point of even trying now? Why bother even working in the first place if you know you can't get where you want to be in life? No that does not mean wanting to become a millionaire or billionaire. Most middle class people are just being content and satisfied with life. No reason to want. But these rich people? They cannot stop spending. It is not the poor people spending all their money on luxurious clothes, and fine dining or sports cars. Most middle class are content with what they have and live out their retirement years totally satisfied. Not worried about what some millionaire or billionaire yacht owner has. “Man if I had just worked longer, I too could have gotten a yacht.” Is not what most retirees are thinking.
