isn’t it crazy how really we have little to no job security in america?

i’m moving to a new state for a job next week and i’m so excited ! i’ve never done a big move and lived at home for a majority of college so i’m really excited to have some independence as well as a really large savings as back up after working a year post grad while living at home. but lately as this move is looming over me I feel major amounts of anxiety as well. I think about how when I move to this new state, I will now be responsible for so many things like rent in one of the most expensive cities in the united states. I keep thinking about how most states are at will employment and no job is truly ever promised. if the company decides to do a lay off it’s all on you and whatever rainy day fund you have going on. it just makes me so sad that this is the way things are in what we call one of the most advanced countries. it just feels like you can do all the planning in the world but things can fully fall apart without you being able to do a damn thing about it.
