I'm a New Yorker living in Charleston. I moved up the ladder to a better position in a new company. I went from a tech to basically low management/clerk. I went from a terrible part time job in school making like 12k and to 90k in about 18 months. Things were going good. I got on this new job site and I was onboarding with this guy they hired into a similar position. My trainer was driving the two of us out to this cafeteria and we were talking about the other new people that have started along side us. My trainer mentioned this girl that started as a crane operator, then he kind of abruptly had to hop out of the truck for a minute to talk to somebody. Me and this other new guy are sitting in the truck while he talks to this person and he goes “That girl's just another lazy ass n——“. I was like “what the fuck, man.” Nobody else heard him say it, I can't really prove he said it. When you get on a blue collar job site as a white guy, one of the first things that happens is the racists try to feel you out and see if you're going to rat on them. So they like to put you in situations where they know the chances of them getting nailed are low. Now I'm permanently stuck in an office with this guy and he spends half his day spreading rumors about me because I didn't pass the racist vibe check. He wants me fired and he runs his mouth constantly to these other people. The only good thing I have here is that the plant manager and another manager here are black guys. Otherwise, I would be a sea of maga crazies. I don't know how to approach this situation, it's been a week since it happened, and this guy is getting worse. I have recruiters calling me all the time, I'll probably start hitting them up and then report this dumb dumb when I have a job in the bag. Mills are cesspools, folks.
