IT user support for almost a thousand users on my own?

Currently stressed out like never before and needed to ask for advice, this is my second job in IT support (hardware/software/licensing/ordering etc.)and I am not sure if this is unusual or I just can't handle the work conditions in this field. At my previous job I was part of an internal IT/client support team for a bigger company, around 4 people and it was stressful but the workload was managableI feel, as you can get help from others in the same boat as you. At my current job three people handled the admin/user support for the whole company, two were long time employees and now the second one unexpectedly quit months apart from the first one while I was joining (both weren't sugarcoating the situation, the first one left because he was overworked and demanded another employee for the longest time which they didn't get). Also before the one doing the support on their own before the person before me apparently also quit due to stress-issues.

Now the management plans to give the person that managed the user support the roles of the admins and put me in charge of the user support on my own.
Management is apparently searching for two substitute positions in the admin field but honestly I am starting to get worried, the workload is barely doable at all as I am far not at a level I should be to handle everything at the same time while working off tickets and being available to users nonstop, is this usual in that kind of field, should I find something else or try sticking it out?
