Antiwork

It’s slightly nice to be working a job where I could give literally two shits about if they fired me.

I am a teacher during the year and have the summer off+writing curriculum on the side. I get bored if I am at home during the day, so I took a summer job working at a local recreation center. If I was going to be bored might as well be bored and making money. I kind of started backing out because it wasn't what I was expecting… I thought it would be more of a coordinator job but they have me actually dealing with screaming children… I basically more or less asked my boss to fire me but they sort of guilt tripped me into “it's last minute we can't find anyone else”. I sent in all the days and a couple of weeks I will be gone this summer and was like “You can let me go if you want”. They were like we need you we will make…

So it's sort of freeing to be working a job where there is a zero pressure to perform. I can do a crappy job, I can walk out today and just say I am done anytime. I don't even need a letter of recommendation really. It's sort of the first time I have held the cards.
