I’ve been getting away with taking 2 lunch breaks for over year and nobody every noticed.

I work in building maintenance at hospital that has 3 10hr shifts that intersect with other shifts. 8am to 6pm 6pm to 4am 4am to 2pm I have the 8am to 6pm but the management shifts are totally different and awkward. They do three 8 hour shifts for management. 9:30pm to 530am 5:30am to 1:30pm 1:30pm to 9:30pm When I got hired, I was told everyone gets a specific time to take a 45 lunch, and two 15min breaks. One of the policies is that we have to check out to lunch with our managers even though the lunch is guaranteed.. in case we are needed for an emergency. I got the 8am to 6pm shift. My first 15min break is 10:15am, my 45min lunch is 12:30pm, and my final 15min break is at 3:15. So basically , I'm getting back from lunch 15min before the manager trades shifts. When…

8am to 6pm
6pm to 4am
4am to 2pm

9:30pm to 530am
5:30am to 1:30pm
1:30pm to 9:30pm

When I got hired, I was told everyone gets a specific time to take a 45 lunch, and two 15min breaks.

When I first started this job. The manager that came in after my lunch told me to take a lunch. When I told him I already did, he said there was a mistake probably because it's written down that I have lunch at 1:30 on his log in portal but not to worry about it since I'm new and told me to take the double lunch at 1:30 anyway and that he would tell the prior manager to erase me from 12:30 on his portal. Anyway, the very next Day, the prior shift manager was out sick for like a week, and the lead tech took over his spot until he was back.

Somehow in the mix, nobody ever communicated to fix my lunch schedule or bothered to take notice so I figured I'd just roll with it.

It's been exactly 1 year and 2months since I started this job, and I've been getting away with paid double lunches ever since. I'm supposed to clock out on my lunch too. But I never clock out of my first lunch. I always do it on the second lunch.

So basically I come back from lunch at 1:15pm, mess around and not do any work whatsoever for 15 min, then clock out for another 45min lunch until 2:15, then I take a 15min break 1 hour later. In between that 1hr, I basically hide out somewhere in the building.

I also got a $2 raise.

Work life couldn't be better.
I encourage everyone to take full advantage as I am when or if a situation like this happens.
