Antiwork

I’ve been really struggling with work ever since they made it mandatory to come into the office.

I got this job late 2020 during Covid and it was 100% WFH. It's the best job I've ever had. I was able to concentrate and really excelled at my position despite having no prior experience in the industry. My direct management team was also really great, which is not something I'm used to. First job I ever had that I didn't dread actually waking up to go to work every day and instead kind of looked forward to it. Absolutely insane how happy I was with the position. Then, sometime last year, the head of our company made it known that they went out of their way to get an office building so that we could go back to the office, about 25-30 miles away from where most people lived, and it was going to be mandatory attendance. Fucking blew me out of the water that they were doing…

Fucking blew me out of the water that they were doing this.

People started complaining about it and asking why when we've seen nothing but record profits every month for a year, but the head honcho made it clear that we “Have to adapt”. Funny when “adapting” means going back to the old model that wasn't nearly as successful.

I don't want to drone on and on, eventually it was compromised that we only have to go in once a week, but even then it's turned my whole view of my job upside down. I'm less motivated during the work week, and the time I spend working at home is filled with dreading over the day I have to go back in. Oh, and before you ask, no, there is literally zero difference in my work day when I'm in the office other than an added 2 hours of commute time to my day and being around people I don't want to be around for 8 hours.

Anyone else experiencing this type of feeling?
