So, I've posted before (a few days ago) about steps that I'm already taking to see what kinds of positions are out there other than what I'm currently doing.
Thing is, I don't even know if I'll be able to stay at my current job because I keep taking a stand for myself and now it looks like I might actually be facing a write-up (not common in my company) or just getting fired.
So, I do construction. We're working on a big project, which started on July 5th. That same day, I got kicked off the roof for telling my foreman (who I'm normally pretty decent with) to get something himself, because I was prioritizing a job I was already doing (unloading materials being lifted to the rooftop).
He kicked me off the job for backtalking amd refusing to follow directions.. ended up with no write-up. It was extremely humid and hot that day, so everyone's tempers were riding high anyways, so that was probably a big factor.
Now today, I was doing ground work using an all terrain forklift. After my last load I delivered, was told we were switching to trash removal because it was windy. So, I unloaded, dumped, and then reset my lift to continue. Foreman calls, tells me I'm dumb, etc, yelling at me for not bringing another load of shit up first. Then he screams some more, tells me I'm kicked off the lull and to head up the roof, calling me worthless. Told him that id just use vacation to take the rest of the day off.
So, called my supervisor, talked to him, he told me to “be the bigger man, work still needs to be done”. I attempted. Foreman told me no, he was writing me up, and when I told my supervisor, he said he wouldn't undermine the Foreman and if he turned in the paperwork, he wouldn't stop it from going through.
I'm going to talk with HR about this later today, because I'm trying to get ahead of these things.
I'm close to the end of my rope with shit. I get the most shit out of everyone else in the crew. I just think folks really hate when someone actually sticks up for themselves or questions the logic of those above them.
