I’ve worked for this local, three-store chain for about four months now. I lost track of all the health violations since starting here, including: improper storage/thawing of meat and seafood, serving food left out overnight/more than 7 days in fridge, keeping “KEEP FROZEN” foods in a cold table for service/out overnight to thaw… and a few more that i probably don’t know about, because we’re told to lie about how long we’ve been working here when the inspection comes.
Now, on to the labor/pay issues. The owner pools tips from the the three locations that operate under different LLCs. He also gives me and a few others a predetermined amount of tips every week, and has confirmed that he will take some when there’s extra.
The owner also doesn’t believe that minors are supposed to get breaks after 4 hours. I brought this up to him myself, but he brushed me off. said that law’s only for 15 year olds…
how much of this is actually illegal or is it just crumby?
