Company laid off a good amount people. While we are all looking for new jobs, I’ve been seeing a pattern of PhDs (literally recent heads, no experience) get a new job immediately. Me on the other hand, have a bachelors but years (8+) of experience, yet I’m still under qualified from the interviews I’ve had. I’ve literally had a job way before any PhDs had real jobs. Literally.
It really hurts and fucking sucks.
Yeah keep looking, you’ll find something. I tell myself.
But fuck. Do letters really fucking matter. Once upon a time I wanted a PhD but later thought that’s just not me.
Jealous, whatever you want to call it. And to make matters worse, these people were not good at what they were doing.
Maybe it’s just me and should just get over it. But it’s so disheartening to see this.
Edit. No disrespect to people with higher degrees. This is just a post on people who suck at their jobs that have PhDs (I know plenty of PhDs that are wonderful and wish I had their brain) have quickly gotten new jobs compared to others who only have a bachelors with years of experience have no luck.
