Corporations and capitalists needed to manufacture an excuse to be able to tell us that our job responsibilities are what they tell us they are when they tell us, so they can add more responsibilities based on their discretion to extract more labor out of us without having to compensate us for the added work. “Quiet quitting” was always propaganda to shift more power towards employers.
