Hi all.
Something just happened to me at work and I need advice. I work in IT at a construction company in Illinois. I was hired as a hybrid-employee whom would be in the office full-time for training. I just had my quarterly check-in and I was informed that my position would now be required to be in the office full-time. My manager knew I would be pissed as we had talked before, at length, about getting me to be full-time remote like she is. Apparently, this change was decided upon late last week and and went into effect today. I want to walk out but I can’t as I don’t have another job lined up and a family to feed. My boss is giving me a day to “decompress” (which doesn’t mean I get work off, it just means no meetings bc she wants me to calm down so I don’t raise hell). I’ve been interviewing at other places and have some scheduled for this week. I have to get out of this place but until I can – What I’m currently thinking of is asking for a raise on the basis of since my job responsibilities have changed, I should be compensated as I now have to pay for commuting daily for the foreseeable future.
Please help and any advice/actionable feedback is welcome.
