Job name gone backwards

So I'm mid-40s and in the past I've worked my way up to managing a team of engineers. We then ran out of projects and I was asked to do a sales role. I was only averagely successful but in my defence neither was anyone else in the team, in fact my sales team boss got sacked (and treated badly through the process). I've now been in a new job for a year basically change managing the fuck out of this dysfunctional corporate. My job title has gone backwards and I now feel trapped as my salary is high, as are job responsibilities but my new job title is terrible and is ruining my confidence when applying for new jobs. Anyone else feeling undermined by their job title? I'm better than this place but for the first time I'm struggling in interviews…
