My only marketable skill is writing, the one thing I’d like to get paid for and not want to jump off a tall building. I’ve ended up in marketing jobs and communications which seemed like much a better route than journalism. I left my first marketing job for various reasons and now I’m looking for better positions. Two jobs have taken me on a wild goose chase.
The first one involved three interviews including a project test, to which at the every last interview, not even an hour after the zoom call, they said I didn’t get the job. The second job I’ve basically been ghosted after the second interview. I honestly don’t enjoy working, and all these jobs want to know why I want this job.
I just want money so I can save for trips and shit. I shouldn’t have to bend over backwards to explain myself. They also tend to ask where I see myself in 5 years. Umm…Idk dude, happy? I make music outside of working, and I enjoy creative writing as a hobby as well, so my career choice or what I do for money doesn’t define me but I don’t think they like that.
I don’t care about a career and spending my life working for someone else, I just need cash and I’ll be a good worker in order to do that as long as the pay is good and I’m treated well. I’m wondering, are these employers all soulless? Do they just wait people who kiss their asses?
