Job used to be fun.. the next job will be better

To give some context, I am a self taught motorcycle mechanic which started with my first bike. Since then I’ve been fascinated with them, and even made a 28 hour round trip over a weekend to pickup a project bike to challenge myself. Using that and my self-gained knowledge of bikes in general, I got a job at a motorcycle dealership as a entry level position being a “Setup tech.” Setup techs build brand new units that arrive, and get them ready for sale. Now, I’ve loved this job. Using my hands, and eventually bought power tools, and my entire own set of tools. (Not wanting to sound spoiled here) My dad even talked to my boss at one point and turns out he bought me a US General tool box which is one of the only gifts he has ever bought. Now, I’ve loved this job. Using my hands, and eventually bought power tools, and my entire own set of tools. (Not wanting to sound spoiled here) My dad even talked to my boss at one point and turns out he bought me a US General tool box which is one of the only gifts he has ever bought.

Anyway, I’m now 6 months into the company, and honestly they’re pushing me quite far. A month and a half ago I asked for a raise, which I got “Yeah, let’s revisit that in October”, which is my one year of working here. Keep this in mind. During my time, I’ve learned to operate a forklift (Which is great!), but I also clean the shop daily, help the mechanics, unload semi trucks w/ the forklift, make pick ups and deliveries, fill out paperwork, push units around here and there, run errands, etc. shop bitch, basically. All this for 12/hr.

I found a new job that starts at 14 with a guaranteed raise of a dollar+ in 90 days. I gave my current job the ultimatum of give me a raise or here’s a two week notice. (tip gained from this subreddit) I found out that even at my 1 year, I wouldn’t be getting a raise OR moving up into a new position/gaining more skills. I’m at a brick wall.

Reason I’m making this post, a coworker told me the company is going to be changing the setup tech position up to include oil changes and tire changes. Which is stuff I was told I’d be doing months ago… still not doing. I would leave sooner than two weeks but I can tolerate what ALL I do long enough to stay.

Edit for my work ethic; I show up to work between 30-15 minutes every morning, and pretty much take quick lunches. (kind of to milk time, oh well.) I also used to stay a little bit when required, kind of stopped doing that since the two weeks notice.
