I feel like this is nothing in comparison to some of the posts I've seen here before but i wanted to get it out anyway. So I will keep it short.
I (26M) have dyed my hair pink for breast cancer awareness month every year since I was 13. 2 of my family members (an uncle and a cousin) have had it. Cousin didn't survive it. I haven't done it for the last 2 years due to life being hectic and not getting around to it. Recently a close friend of mine found out she has it. And is getting very depressed over it. And I wanted to dye my hair again since I think it would make her smile. My boss found out I planned on doing so and told me that it would be against policy but maybe if I talked to HR about doing it for October and October only, maybe they'd allow it.
Unfortunately even after explaining what its for and my personal connection to it, they told me no. I don't understand why though. Especially considering its for a good cause, and I work in the back where customers never see me.
