So I HATE the military industrial complex and think it should be abolished. But I’m in college, I have no parental support, I hate working at shitty grocery stores that dehumanize me, and I just want some financial stability while I finish my degree. Me and my boyfriend are constantly moving cities because of housing costs, and because no jobs in my area pay more than $12 an hour. I was looking into the military because it seems like they do absolutely nothing but fake work for tons of benefits. I know it’s a big commitment, given the long contracts. I’m pretty weak mentally and physically, and capitalism is driving me into depression. Has anyone within this community had experience in the military? I can’t find real stories that aren’t propaganda or nationalist POVs- I want to know about it from a “just trying to get by in this capitalist society” point of view if that makes sense.
